Role Overview
As an Electronics Hardware Engineer (ATEX / IECEx), you will design and validate Industrial IoT hardware for use in hazardous (Ex) environments, supporting IMI TWTG’s wireless sensing and connectivity solutions.

You will take ownership of electronic designs from concept through to production, including schematic and PCB design, radio integration and sensor development. Working in a multidisciplinary team alongside firmware, mechanical and data engineers, you will help deliver robust, certified products that operate reliably in demanding industrial environments such as oil & gas, chemicals and heavy industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop hardware designs for Industrial IoT products from requirements through to implementation
  • Design with a strong focus on intrinsically safe (Ex ia) architectures, actively supporting compliance and certification activities
  • Create schematics and PCB layouts in Altium, including radio transceiver and sensor designs
  • Plan and execute verification activities, including test plans, board bring‑up, troubleshooting and reporting
  • Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation, including design files, BOMs and change records
  • Write and maintain documentation required for ATEX, IECEx and product certification
  • Act as the technical point of contact for test houses and notified bodies covering radio, EMC and Ex certification
  • Optionally take ownership of small‑scale project coordination activities

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Bachelor’s level of working and thinking (HBO) through education and/or relevant experience
  • Several years of relevant experience in electronics hardware development
  • Proven experience designing electronics for hazardous or Ex‑regulated environments
  • Hands‑on experience with ATEX / IECEx certification projects
  • Experience supporting product certification activities such as RED, FCC and UKCA
  • Strong experience with Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout, including versioning and document control (Altium 365)
  • Comfortable working primarily with digital designs, with supporting analog circuitry for power management and sensor front‑ends
  • Structured, proactive and communicative way of working
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary Scrum team, planning work and managing risks proactively
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

Diserable Competencies

  • Hands‑on experience with low‑power wireless design for Industrial IoT applications
  • Experience with LoRaWAN‑based products and ST / ARM microcontrollers
  • Experience with Ex ma (encapsulation) design approaches
  • Experience integrating MEMS sensors
  • Interest in expanding technical ownership or taking on limited project coordination responsibilities
  • Ability to read, write and speak Dutch
